May is National Walking Month!
EverWalk is thrilled to join Good Morning America in promoting a month of walk events across America and around the world. . , and May 28 is “Wish I Hadn’t Seen That!” day.
Please join EverWalk Ambassador Barbara Wells in Fort Myers for an early morning walk (it’s hot here!) at Lakes Park.
This is a lighthearted and fun walk to revisit one of our beautiful parks as it continues to recover from Hurricane Ian.
And we’ll do our best to avoid any gators, snakes, pedal swans, and runaway trains as we look out for things we really do not need to see!
DATE: Sunday, May 28th
MEETING PLACE: We’ll meet at the Rental Shelter between Parking Lot #1 and Parking Lot #2, across from the Swan Boats.
EXACT ADDRESS: Lakes Park, 7330 Gladiolus Drive, Fort Myers, Florida 3390
MEETING TIME: 8:15 AM meet & 8:30 AM walk.
(See map for location details.)
WHAT TO EXPECT:
We will walk up to the end of the park, past the kiddie train and mini town, because you simply must admire the mini SunHarvest Citrus, then back an around the park once or twice. This is just a couple of miles, and we’ll do our best to take funny pics as we find silly and scary things and try to avoid becoming gator lunch.
TOTAL DISTANCE: About 2.5 miles. Beginners definitely welcome. Bring a friend!!
WHAT DOES “WISH I HADN’T SEEN THAT!” MEAN?
For those of us in Southwest Florida, taking a walk in the neighborhood can be like a visit to the zoo – only without cages!
Giant gators just walk across the street, all manner of birds, wild hogs, big cats and wildlife in general abound. We joke a lot about the “scary” things (both man-made and natural) all around us. (and we actually love and respect our wildlife a lot – just do not want to get too close!)
IF YOU CANNOT JOIN Barbara in Fort Myers, create your own “Wish I Hadn’t Seen That!” Walk with a View on Sunday, May 28!
On May 28th, we invite you to also take a walk and look out for scary things and things you just wish you had not come across!
Reach out to your friends and neighbors, go on a local walk, visit a park or a cemetery or walk through your city – and let us know what you are trying to avoid!
We’d love to hear all about your route, so please share your adventure and post your pictures on the WalkWithGMA Facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/walkwithgma
